At launch gamerpics were simply abstract images of things that were designed by the community. Overtime more gamerpics have been added to the Xbox One. They can be chosen from a wide range of options already available on the console or can be customized with the users Avatar. Gamerpics are customizable icons that are used as the profile picture for Xbox accounts.
